A steel sheet, no welding

Each TOYO STEEL box is born from a single pressed steel sheet, for both the body and the lid. No welds that break, no sharp edges: the corners are rounded by pressing, for durability as well as for your hands. The handle retracts, the lid fits perfectly, and the box withstands years in the workshop as well as trips to and from the workshop or by car.

One range, dozens of uses

The family ranges from the small pocket T150 to the Y350 chest, including the T190 to slip into a drawer, the T320 to place near the workbench, and the ST350 two-tier. Not to mention the mini COBAKO, pretty enough to live on a desk. To compare sizes, head to our model guide.

Colors that have become a signature

Bright red, ocean blue, khaki, cement, mustard, candy pink: color is part of the object. Maison Godillot even has its own exclusive colors produced by TOYO STEEL, shades imagined in Paris and pressed in Osaka. The easiest way is to browse the TOYO STEEL toolbox collection.

Much more than a DIY object

Watercolors, pens, screws, cards, medicines, souvenirs: these boxes store everything, and that’s why they have been adopted far beyond workshops. The story of the house is told in TOYO STEEL, the steel of Osaka and storage ideas are shared in what to store in a metal box.

Beyond boxes, a true steel family

The Osaka house doesn’t stop at toolboxes. The Konstella cases combine aluminum and leather to carry documents and small items with the look of an architect’s luggage. The TWR4 cart lines up three steel trays on wheels and can carry up to 80 kilos, both in the workshop and in the kitchen. And the catchall tray, born in the factories of Higashi-Osaka to sort screws, has found a second life on desks and in entryways.

For the boxes themselves, accessories in reconstituted leather signed Salamander dress the interior: bottom soles for the T150, T190, and T320, magnetic protections and dividers for the large Y350 and T350 chests. Enough to transform a workshop box into a desk jewel case.

Maintenance summed up in one sentence

Painted steel requires almost nothing: a dry cloth after use, a corner of a cupboard without humidity, and the box will last for decades. Scratches may appear, but they tell the story of use, like on Japanese workshop boxes you see covered in marks and still going strong.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are TOYO STEEL toolboxes made in Japan?

Yes. They are pressed from steel in Japan by TOYO STEEL, an Osaka-based company founded in 1969, and bear the made in Japan mark.

What makes a TOYO STEEL box different?

The body and lid are each pressed from a single steel sheet, without welding. Rounded corners, a retractable handle, and a tight closure complete the design.

What size toolbox should I choose?

From the pocket-sized T150 to the large Y410 chest, it all depends on what you store. Our model guide compares the dimensions one by one.

Does a steel box rust?

The steel is painted and protected. Just keep it dry and wipe it if it gets wet, like any quality metal tool.
