Frequently asked questions

How to use a KAKIMORI dip nib?

Dip the nib in the ink, then write until the ink runs out before dipping again. The nib attaches to a wooden pen holder. It’s an expressive writing style, with the line varying according to pressure and ink. Wipe the nib after use to preserve it.

What ink should be used with a dip nib?

Fountain pen inks work well, as do KAKIMORI inks, and you can explore various shades since you just need to dip the nib. Avoid letting the ink dry on the nib. Rinse and dry the nib between colors to keep a clean line.

Are KAKIMORI nibs interchangeable?

Yes, the nibs attach to the pen holder and can be changed, allowing you to vary the line, finer or more flexible depending on the nib. You keep the same wooden pen holder and adapt the nib to the use, writing, drawing, or calligraphy.

Is the dip nib suitable for beginners?

Yes, it’s a simple and fun way to discover ink writing, without a filling mechanism. You just need a nib, a pen holder, and a bottle of ink. Rest your hand lightly and let the nib glide. A little practice is enough to get the hang of it.
