Light through washi

Washi paper filters light into a warm and soft glow, without glare. A washi lamp transforms the atmosphere of a room in the evening, evoking calm and slowness. See the brand SHIRAKI KOUGEI.

Frequently asked questions

What is a washi paper lamp?

It is a light fixture whose lampshade is made of washi, a traditional Japanese paper. The paper diffuses light with a warm and soft glow, without glare. This creates a soothing atmosphere, much appreciated in the evening. It is both a light source and a beautiful artisanal object.

What bulb should be used in a washi lamp?

Choose a warm light bulb, with low to medium power, which highlights the softness of the paper. Warm LED bulbs work well and produce little heat, which preserves the washi. Check the socket and recommended power indicated on the lamp’s specifications.

Is a washi lamp suitable for a bedroom?

Yes, absolutely. Its warm, soft light creates a relaxing atmosphere, ideal for a bedroom, living room, or bedside table. It accompanies quiet evening moments. It is more of ambient lighting than task lighting, to be chosen according to the room.

How to care for a washi paper lamp?

Gently dust the paper with a dry cloth or duster, without rubbing. Avoid water and humidity, which can stain the washi. Handle the lamp carefully, as the paper remains fragile. Well maintained, it keeps its beautiful light diffusion for a long time.
