Made by traditional artisans from Nagano, this artisanal paper-making technique has been awarded the prestigious status of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The meticulous application of lacquer and kaki tannin on each sheet by these skilled artisans creates a rich and immersive texture that deepens and transforms over time.
The intrinsic charm lies in the irregularity of the lacquer's texture, the enchanting luster of its uneven surfaces, the deep and dark hues of persimmon tannin, and the subtle shine of brass.
