TURTLE GRATER
Orishigane graters are amazing. A must-have in Japanese kitchens, they grate more finely than traditional Western graters and allow for quick reduction of garlic, horseradish, daikon, radish, wasabi, lemongrass, ginger, nutmeg, and chili peppers.
Each piece is individually handcrafted in Saitama by Oya Seisakusho, founded in 1949. The copper is hardened by hammering, then tinned and cut into the shape of a traditional turtle. Finally, the teeth are sawed by hand and raised.
The very sharp and small blades mean that they cut rather than crush your food, thus preserving the texture and flavor. Rub your vegetables in a circular motion to make fine pasta.
These blades are sharp! Take care of yourself.
For increased longevity, we recommend hand washing.
USE & MAINTENANCE
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Clean and dry thoroughly after each use. Fibers may remain lodged in the blades, they can be removed with a toothbrush-type brush.
- If traces of oxidation appear, they can be removed with a mixture of white vinegar and salt.
