You see shapes and lines that create a rhythm and animals striking a pose. In the drawings of Aoi Huber, an artist based in southern Switzerland, there is a kind of cheerfulness and a unique accent that only she can express. "Sabato" is a brand of cups and plates with such charming designs.
The brand name "Sabato" means Saturday in Italian. Saturday marks the end of the weekdays and the start of the weekend. We hope your relaxing moments, like Saturdays, will become special with Sabato. We have leveraged the knowledge and techniques developed during the creation of Hasami Ware, everyday tableware we have been making for centuries, and created new ceramic tableware that is easy to use.
The calm taste of the weekend, served in ceramic
The Sabato pieces evoke the weekend, that slower time we savor around the table. The ceramic tableware in the series is made in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, a region renowned for its centuries-old porcelain tradition. The cups are designed by Drill Design, a Tokyo-based studio whose work on form primarily serves illustration. On these cups, the ivory glaze acts as a canvas for the patterns by Aoi, Huber, and Kono—waves, animals, and nature. The Mont Fuji mug comes from a different imagination, inspired by the murals of public baths.

Sabato tableware is made in Hasami, Nagasaki Prefecture, where porcelain has been produced for centuries.
