Both practical and stylish, the Blackwing Tip Protector is designed to ensure your Blackwing pencil stays intact wherever you go. Made from lightweight aluminum, it slips over the tip of your Blackwing pencil, protecting it in your bag, pocket, or case. It fits perfectly on the end of your Blackwing pencil as soon as it reaches the unsharpened part. Simply push the cap about 0.6 cm onto the pencil body to secure it in place.

The Blackwing pencil has a rich history dating back to 1934. In 2008, Palomino acquired the brand and began producing the Blackwing range as we know it today.
Blackwing pencils are renowned for the quality of their graphite and the unique smoothness of their lead. The Blackwing pencil is immediately recognizable by its semi-hexagonal body and interchangeable eraser. The original Blackwing 602 alone inspired the works of some of the greatest artists in history. It is said that Disney animator Shamus Culhane requested to be buried with his Blackwing 602.

What makes up a Blackwing
Wood
Made from California incense cedar, a renewable wood. The pencils are made in Japan and retain the brand's iconic shape.
Graphite
The Pearl lead is soft and dark, softer than the 602 and firmer than the Matte, close to a 3B. It is suitable for both writing and drawing.
The square ring
The square-shaped metal ring is the visual signature of Blackwing. It is what holds the eraser in place at the end of the pencil.
The refillable eraser
The eraser can be removed and replaced thanks to a brand-specific refill mechanism. It comes in several colors and is sold in packs of ten.
The mine guard
Made of machined, lightweight aluminum with a semi-hexagonal shape, it slides from the tip to the uncut part. Available in three finishes: matte black, shiny silver, and gold.
The box of twelve
The pencils are sold in sets of twelve in a box that then serves as a pencil holder. Replacement erasers and a lead sharpener complete the set.
