The paper before the words
Since 2010, Kakimori has been located in Kuramae, a workshop district in Tokyo, with a simple idea: to rekindle the desire to write by hand. The letter papers are the starting point, selected sheet by sheet, from the classic and refined Conqueror Laid to Shinkyokushi, an everyday paper that retains the texture of washi. The lines were hand-drawn and then printed in soft blue ink, subtle enough to keep the message in the spotlight. The envelopes are made by Nishikawa Fabrication and come in five colors: ash, blue-gray, white, pale green, and smoked pink. All that’s left is to choose the sheet, then write.

Before the first word
Conqueror Laid, classic and refined
The first of the two letterheads, chosen for its classic look and finesse. Sold in packs of ten sheets.
Shinkyokushi, the texture of washi
The second stationery, designed for everyday use, with the texture of washi paper under the pen. Ten sheets per pack as well.
Hand-drawn lines
The lines on the lined paper were hand-drawn, then printed in soft blue ink. Subtle enough to keep the message front and center.
Araveal, thick and tactile
The correspondence papers, with a floral pattern or blue-gray border, are printed on thick, tactile paper similar to drawing paper. They accompany a gift, a document, or a short note slipped into an envelope.
Nishikawa envelopes
Each set includes five envelopes in matching colors and papers, made by Nishikawa Fabrication. The logo is stamped in aluminum on them.
The set, paper and envelopes
The set includes 20 sheets of letter paper, Shinkyokushi or lined, and five envelopes in five colors. The packaging can then be kept to store the paper.
