Pen Rest in Black Lacquer - Urushi
KAKIMORI pen rest made of Japanese cherry wood treated with the fuki-urushi technique: the wood is impregnated with matte urushi lacquer to reveal the beauty of the grain. Size H20 × Ø65 mm, compatible with any pen, no precise placement required.
Black Lacquer Pen Rest - Urushi
The pen rest made of Japanese cherry wood is lacquered using the fuki-urushi ("wiped urushi") technique, where the wood is impregnated with urushi lacquer to highlight the beauty of the grain.
A pen rest that enhances moments between writings. Designed to hold any pen without needing precise placement, it effortlessly blends into your workspace with a subtle yet confident presence.
The simple matte lacquer complements any office space and pairs well with our Japanese cherry and aluminum pen holders. Enjoy your own combination.
Fuki-urushi is a traditional technique also widely used in historic architecture. Our pen rest and pen holder are ink-stained before being lacquered to highlight both the beauty of the wood grain and the lacquer itself.
USE AND CARE
The presence of shiny spots on the surface is due to an accumulation of urushi lacquer in the wood fibers and should not be considered a defect. Imperfections are part of the charm of natural wood, and we hope you appreciate its unique character.
To avoid warping and discoloration, avoid soaking it in water, sudden temperature changes, extreme heat, or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
Due to the nature of the material and treatment, the grain and color vary from piece to piece.
If marked with ink, wipe it with a soft cloth.

Usage & Entretien

Born in Kuramae, the craftsmen's district
Since 2010, Kakimori has inspired writing from Kuramae, a workshop district in Tokyo. Inks with vibrant colors, metal nibs, carefully selected papers: each item is designed to make the act of writing simple and precious, every day.

KAKIMORI EXPERTISE
What makes these objects unique
Inks with bold colors
Kakimori inks are pigmented: dense colors that sit on the paper and stay there, without bleeding through the page.
Metal feathers, regular stroke
Stainless steel or brass nibs provide a smooth and consistent line, and can be cleaned with a simple gesture.
Carefully selected paper
Notebooks, envelopes, and letter papers are selected for their feel and ink durability.
Hand-finished
Caps, pen holders, and pen rests go through the workshop for a smooth and precise finish.
A craftsman’s district
Kuramae, between workshops and shops, is the birthplace of the brand. It is where everything is designed and tested.
Since 2010
A young brand that has made a name for itself among writing enthusiasts, in Tokyo as well as in Paris.
