“Pole pole” means “slowly, slowly” in Swahili. The Japanese manufacturer T-Lab carries on the tradition of woodworking craftsmanship. A wooden dolphin catching the wind
This wind chime is made from a piece of albizia falcata, a light-colored and lightweight wood sourced from eco-friendly forests. In Bali, the dolphin is cut, carved, finely sanded, and then hand-painted with plant-based paint. Nothing is mass-molded, so the size and shape vary from piece to piece. Hung near a window or under a porch, it spins as soon as the air moves, true to the word polepole, which means "slowly" in Swahili.

How is this wooden chime made?
A light and pale wood
The chime is carved from albizia falcata, a soft and lightweight wood sourced from eco-friendly forests. Its lightness is what allows the piece to move once hung.
Cut then sculpted
In Bali, each dolphin is cut out and then hand-carved. No piece comes from a mold.
A fine sanding
The wood is finely sanded before coloring. That's where this round and smooth feel under the fingers comes from.
A plant-based paint
The colors are applied by hand, using paint made from natural plant-based ingredients.
Made to be hung
This is not a figurine to place on a shelf but a wind chime to hang. It starts to spin as soon as a breeze passes by.
