Originally created in linocut, Ariana brings both heart and a stunning design to this striking matchbox titled "Seen."

Led by the couple William and Sarah, Archivist has grown over the years with a passionate team who share the belief that the art of gifting brightens everyday life. Founded in 1998, the journey began in the archives of the Natural History Museum. Since then, their love for image hunting has allowed them to collaborate with artists from around the world and create a unique range of cards, letterpress prints, and luxury matches.
Ink and paper are at the heart of their craft, and with the largest letterpress printing house in Great Britain, they continually push the boundaries of quality and innovation.
After 30 years of passion and excellence, the studio became the first recipient of the King’s Award in 2023.

A collaboration with Girard Studio has reissued Triple Eyes, a pattern designed in 1971 by Alexander Girard. In the square box, 125 matches of 100 mm: a decorative object that truly serves a purpose.

What makes an Archivist box
The square format
The square box is the starting point of Archivist Gallery. It contains 125 matches of 100 mm.
The cylindrical version
A second format, playful and nostalgic, brings together the wild animal collection. It contains 45 matches of 100 mm.
Guest artists
Several boxes bear the signature of a guest artist, Charlotte Farmer, Ariana Martin, or Wanderlust Paper Co., and are presented in their name.
From linocut to the box
Some patterns are created on another medium before being printed. Seen was first carved into linoleum by Ariana Martin in Sheffield.
The Girard archives
The Girard Studio, created by the designer's family to honor his legacy, partnered with Archivist for Triple Eyes. This series of panels inspired by folk art was designed in 1971.
100 mm matches
Both formats use the same 100 mm stem, long enough to reach the wick at the bottom of a candle holder.
