Daiyo was founded in Takashima County, Shiga Prefecture, in 1914. The craftsmanship has been passed down through four generations, refining and perfecting over time. Shiga Prefecture is home to Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, and an abundance of natural resources. As a result, Shiga has accumulated a wealth of knowledge about the coexistence of humans and nature. Daiyo’s Japanese candles are made 100% from natural vegetable wax. Our principles of candle making from the blessings of nature have remained unchanged since our founding over a century ago.
