Candles born in Shiga Prefecture
Shiga is home to Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan, and abundant nature with which its inhabitants have long lived.

Know-how
What makes up a Daiyo candle
Vegetable wax
The candles are made from 100% natural plant-based wax, derived from rice. No paraffin, no animal materials.
A strand of rush
The wick is made from rush grass, one of the materials specified on each Daiyo candle.
Washi and silk
In addition to the ring, washi paper and silk fibers are added. They join the rice wax in the composition of each candle.
Smoke-free
Short candles do not produce smoke and are practically odorless, making them suitable for indoor use.
Accurate durations
Allow about 15 minutes of burning for the short models and 60 minutes for the Rockaku hexagonal ones.
Four generations
The craft has been passed down in the same house since 1914. Each generation has taken it up and refined it over time.
